Southern Bricks presents… Rudolph & Santa’s Sleigh built out of 150,000 bricks of Lego!

It’s a Christmas Miracle!

A life-size Rudolph and Santa Sleigh bricked entirely out of Lego has landed in the middle of the City of Adelaide just in time for Christmas! Have you had a chance to visit Victoria Square for a free photo yet? It’s enormous!

This 1:1 Lego recreation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (based on the real one, of course) built complete with his signature light-up nose and accompanied by an absolutely massive Lego Sleigh, was dreamed up by Southern Bricks Community Builder & Project Co-ordinator Steve Ready on behalf of the Adelaide City Council for their Christmas Lights, Festive Nights event. Which is currently happening every night in Victoria Square until Christmas Eve, giving Lego fans of all ages a chance to sit (!) in the Sleigh for a free photo until it’s final night on display on the 23rd of December.

Built and constructed exclusively by members of the Southern Bricks Lego User Group (this writer included!), this amazing Project is a gigantic achievement using a very generous amount of plastic Lego bricks. Over 150,000 in fact!

With a courageous two-month construction time – after months of strategic design, planning and bricklinking – this large-scale Lego build was the biggest project any of us had attempted before. Highlighting just how well our Southern Bricks builders did to get this together and ready for all the smiling faces when it was unveiled last Saturday on the 15th December.

Our Build team had a lot of fun bricking this one, and as the photos show all that hard work really paid off! It looks fantastic!

And happy to say we’ve also heard back from the Adelaide City Council who are thrilled with the final results:

We just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for your hard work in creating the Lego Sleigh and Rudolph display. It is fantastic and definitely the stand out piece of Christmas in the City!

Congratulations to all involved!

Southern Bricks have also put together three exclusive Christmas Lego mini-kits for visitors and fans to take home an extra souvenir to build at home. Designed by Nick Modra of Itty Bitty Bricks, and now on sale for $5 in Victoria Square until stocks last. Check them out below, the Reindeer is adorable!

If you’d like to visit Rudolph and Santa’s Sleigh it will be on show and available for free photos from 4pm to 9pm every night leading up to Christmas Eve. (Final night for photos is the 23rd) Don’t miss out!!!
