Southern Bricks March 2019 Iron Builder Gallery!

Apologies for the lateness on this one, as things are well and truly keeping the Southern Bricks Committee and our Members busy leading up to the double-whammy of Easter’s Kidz Gigantic Day Out and July’s Brixpo Lego Exhibitions. It truly is a great time to be a Lego fan in South Australia.

With both big shows coming up in the next few months, it was great to see everyone at our March Southern Bricks Meet getting so involved with Community Builder Jon Schulz’s Medieval Display workshop.

Set-up in a reverse view at the centre of the Hamra Library Auditorium, allowing on-lookers to see as Jon chatted about all the different styles of build techniques that can used in large-scale Lego exhibit construction.

Duplo, panels, large supports and all sorts of brick-work were utilised in constructing the various sections of this massive display, which at one time topped out at over 18 metres in length for Brickalaide 2018. Not only do these tips help with the over-all build-time, it also helps with project costs, weight and transporting your Lego exhibits.

Big thanks to Jon for all the handy information and bringing the Medieval Display back for a Master-Builder’s view of such an epic display.

Now onto the Iron Builder Gallery!

All aboard with this Month’s entries from our talented local builders, bringing out some amazing MOCs using the challenge piece of Lego Train Track!

Using only one Curved or Straight, with a caveat that it couldn’t be used as ‘track’, on a MOC no larger than a 16×16 stud base-plate.

Here we go!

KFOL Round Winner: Hayley! Congrats!

AFOL Round Winner: Drew H! Congrats Drew!

Congrats to this Month’s Winners – Hayley and Drew! Excellent builds!

Thanks again to everyone who entered this round, it’s always a pleasure to see so many unique builds each Meet.

Speaking of which, our next Meet is coming up fast Sunday April 7th @ 1 PM, also at Hamra Library.

This Month’s Iron Builder Challenge is “April Fools Day”, so build an original MOC that celebrates the cheekiness and cheesiness of this time of the year in Lego and win!

Don’t forget Brixpo 2019 Applications are still open!

We support and welcome first time builders as well as experienced exhibitors. Kids under 12 have the option to start small with a build no bigger than a 48×48 stud baseplate. It’s a great way to get involved!

Applications are open until April 30th but please don’t leave it until the last minute!

Head to for more details.
